He is an Iranian independent filmmaker who has been active in filmmaking since 2004 and has made several films in the forms of docudrama, mockumentary, hybrid, essay-film, and experimental, many of which have been shown at prestigious international film festivals and events. In addition to writing and directing, he has also produced his own films. In his films through a playful and ironic tone, he has explored the Iranian society, the Iranian people, their relationship with other societies, as well as the paradoxical conditions of modern-day human life. The use of voice-over narration, archival materials, and applying episodic narratives within the context of a dialogue between reality and fantasy are some of the formal aspects of his films. In 2011, in addition to filmmaking, he also has published a film quarterly, Filmkhaneh, in Iran and he’s currently its founder and editor-in-chief.
